Attendees to the 2025 Wrapped in Courage event at Queen’s Park
November 25th – December 10th marks the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence; a time to both reflect on violence against women, and to take action to end it. Our shelter works every day towards the vision of a community characterized by gender equality where women, trans and non-binary people and their children are empowered and safe – so, the 16 Days of Activism is a very meaningful time for our work!
On November 25th, 2025, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, our Managers of Programs & Services and Fund Development attended the OAITH Wrapped in Courage event at Queen’s Park. Here, representatives from civil society including many GBV shelters came together with local MPPs, united across parties in their understanding and commitment to reduce the prevailing threat of gender-based violence to marginalized genders across our province.
We are continuing to advocate for change via our social media channels throughout the full duration of the 16 Days of Activism, sharing specific recent cases of gender-based violence and calls for better education, collaboration and collective advocacy as our only means of doing better by women, girls and marginalized genders – not only within Ontario, but worldwide.
The most likely place for a woman to be killed is in her own home – this needs to change. Join us this 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence to demand a safer world for everybody, regardless of their gender.
