Podcast episode: A dive into the work of NYWS with Renata Ortega
SHARE
This past month, NYWS was happy to collaborate with Renata Ortega of the Cycle Breaker and Change Maker podcast. Renata is a survivor of abuse, driven by her own experiences and difficulties navigating support systems to ensure that survivors going through similar circumstances today have better access to resources – which is what brought her to spreading awareness via podcasting.
Two members of our Management team – Jhoanel Lucero Ruiz, Manager of Programs and Services, and Rachel Morrison, Senior Manager of Fund Development – chatted with Renata about the work of North York Women’s Shelter and the times that somebody might start to identify their relationship as unsafe. They discussed how folks can reach out to ask for support, and the wide variety of support that is available here at North York Women’s Shelter.

We encourage listeners to also take a look at Renata’s other episodes in her Cycle Breaker & Change Maker series, which provide a great body of support for survivors and allies alike.
Our deepest thanks to Renata Ortega for having us on this episode. We hope that this podcast may help to spread awareness about the vital work of women’s shelters in responding to the ever-growing issue of gender-based violence.
