We’re at an inflection point

We need your support
By Kelsey Jones, Executive Director
This past year, we served more survivors in a single year than we’ve ever done since we opened in 1984. While that’s an incredible accomplishment, it’s also explains the demand there is for shelter services and anti-violence supports. Since we reopened into our new shelter space in March 2020, we have supported over 191 survivors. We have been on the frontlines of the pandemics of COVID-19 and gender-based violence, we know firsthand the lack of access to community services and the critical demand for shelter services across the GTA. But that’s not why we need your support.
We’re at an inflection point here at North York Women’s Shelter. In the past three years, we have continued to accumulate data, knowledge, survivors’ testimonies and feedback, to innovate and create programs and services that best serve them. We have made tremendous strides in our program design, client service and delivery, and in operationalizing our values of trauma-informed care. We have grown exponentially in every way possible and with your investment, we can continue to do more.
By supporting North York Women’s Shelter you are investing in our programs and services such as:
- Trauma Counseling
- Psychotherapy
- Food Justice and Food Security
- Expressive Arts Therapy
- Resource Work
- Transitional Support Work
- Children’s Educational Facilitator
- Pet Kennel
- Emergency Shelter
By making a donation to North York Women’s Shelter, you’re supporting us as we provide emergency shelter and anti-violence services to survivors right now. But you’re also investing in our mission of ending gender-based violence. You are supporting us as we support survivors in your community and supporting us as we build our vision of a community characterized by gender equality.
In 38 years, we have continued to evolve, reflect, and innovate our shelter space, programs, services, and designs to better serve our community. In our history, we’ve seen tremendous growth, transitions, and learnings – but we have never drifted from our mission or our vision.
Will you invest in our mission to end gender-based violence?
